I have read many of the threads about people complaining about the Aeroplan program.
Don't get me wrong, there are times where it is not great, the taxes can be high and availability can be limited at times. But with proper planning and a little bit of flexibility on your dates, you can do great things with you Aeroplan points.
I just booked business class round trip flight from Winnipeg to Vietnam for myself and my best friend.
5 of the 6 flights in total are business class and 1 economy segment (a short 2.5 hour flight, so no big deal).
Cost per person was 125,000 Aeroplan points and $220 for the taxes. We priced it out on the Air Canada site, it would have cost about $6,000 cash for a Business Class trip to Asia.
I'm just a regular joe and I never justify paying $6,000 for business class ticket.
I'm happy with the value of my Aeroplan points :razz::D:);)
P.s. I flew 1st class to Vietnam on my last trip there and it cost 120,000 Aeroplan points (before the jacked up the points required) and the taxes were $450 (Value was about $10,000)
