Tax Advice for House purchase used as rental then will eventually be main residence

I presently own a house and am just about to complete on a second property which we have already rented for a few years but will become are main residence eventually, the house that is are main residence now will be listed for sale in the next month or two when sold we plane to buy an rv and travel North America for a year or two and then move into rental house for a good few years.
So question is for CRA what steps do I need to take? can I once I have sold my present house while traveling elect the rental property as my main residence even if it’s still a rental?
