UK Credit Card while in Canada

Hi folks,

I was curious if anyone has tried to get a UK based credit card while living in Canada?

The reason I'm asking is that I want to subscribe to a UK service that will only accept UK issued credit cards. I have found a posting online where someone who was a british citizen living in Canada for the last 10+ years was able to do so via HSBC, but I was wondering if anyone here had ever tried it, or have any tips for me.

I'm going to try to visit the local HSBC branch to see what they have to say, but any help would be appreciated.
