I'm curious if anyone in the banking system or just knows exactly how these things work? What is it at the fundimental level? A wire trasnfer?
I made a post about how much of an anochronism checks are, and am curious why I can't do the same thing to move money between accounts?
I get direct deposit from a bermuda bank to my Cad bank in USD with no fees, when I had a car in Canada I was getting insurance paid monthly with no fees, same with my visa payments. Is someone paying fees on the back end here and we don't see it as the customer? I have a hard time belive the unsurance companies, people I work for or Visa would just eat the fee. I also have a hard time beliveing the baks would do it for free.
Why can't I personally move money in the same manner as direct deposit? Is it actually a bank wire? I have 75k in a US bank I'm trying to move to Canada from when I worked there. Have no checks left and refuse to pay the $150 wire fee.
