I had an elective placement at Western University 3 years ago. They required a bank draft of $100 as payment. I sent them the draft in February of 2011, and completed the placement a few months later.
Fast forward three years. TD just sent me a letter stating that the draft has never been presented to them for payment. They wrote "the original draft (or proof of purchase) will be required to investigate and to determine the best course of action". Of course, I discarded the draft receipt after completing my elective. I don't have a specific contact at Western to ask about this, and I suspect it disappeared into an administrative black hole.
Any advice on recouping the $100? Doesn't seem fair that TD can hold onto it indefinitely, but I don't know if I have any legitimate recourse without the draft of a proof of purchase.
