Hey I would appreciate some insight.

My parents own a single detached home in Richmond and have home insurance coverage with Wawanesa and their yearly rate has been increasing every year.

No claims have been made for the past 20 years

Some details of the policy -

Homeowner - Principal Residence

Earthquake Territory - Sewer Backup Territory

Within 300m of hydrant - Within 13km of fire hall

Property Coverages -

Dwelling Building $423,000
Private structures $63,450
Personal property $338,400
Additional living expense $84,600

Additional Coverages -

Single inclusive limit - $909,450 (included)
Replacement cost on contents (included)
Building bylaws coverage (included)
Earthquake coverage ($736)
Identity fraud expense coverage (included)
Sewer back-up / water damage ($56)
Fire following earthquake (included)

I have called in to inquire about the increases and their explanation is - "everyone else is doing it nation-wide."

I think the best thing to do is to shop around for quotes.

Are there any companies that you guys would recommend?

Cheers
