Discount Brokerage System Outage ... Compensation?

Does discount brokerages ever offer compensation to clients for their technical systems breaking down? Scotia iTrade messed up a stock order and wont compensate. The offered me free trades instead :mad:

Apparently, they such problems more than once a year where they screw up order routing in the morning. Someone probably got to work late and forgot to turn the computer on.
