About to start investing in mutual funds, for the first time ever. Nothing huge, probably just $500 in RRSP money to start. Haven't talked to RBC yet, just doing my research for now. On the RBC MF website > Global Funds, I found the following:
Money Market Funds Money Market Funds
Fixed Income Funds Fixed Income Funds
Managed Payout Solution Managed Payout Solutions
Balanced Funds and Portfolio Solutions Balanced Funds and Portfolio Solutions
Canadian Equity Funds Canadian Equity Funds
North American Equity Fundss North American Equity Funds
U.S. Equity Funds U.S. Equity Funds
International Equity Funds International Equity Funds
Global Equity Funds Global Equity Funds
And each one of these can be expanded to show more items underneath it.
My questions are:
1-What are these? Do I have to select one of them when I invest money in MF?
2-Is there any specific fund you recommend for someone with a small amount like that, but not necessarily starting conservative. But don't want to go aggressive either. Maybe something balanced in the middle.
3-How does RBC charge for MF investment? Is it per transaction or percentage of returns?
4-Anything else or tips you can recommend for someone who has never done Mutual Funds before?
Thank you
