Hey guys,
I'm turning 19 soon, and I'm looking to get my own chequing account and credit card. I'm currently on an HSBC Premier Youth account which is fine, but it's a savings account. Scotiabank, RBC and CIBC have branches on campus with TD pretty close by, so I'm leaning towards one of those. CIBC, Scotia and RBC (sorta) have unlimited transaction accounts for students, but that isn't a big deal since I don't go over about 20 transactions a month anyway.
In terms of credit cards, I understand that the MBNA SmartCash is generally considered the card to get, but would I be approved with no credit? I do have a part time job. Aside from that, what other card might be best? The most useful things I see are cashback and occasionally an extended warranty (I like my gadgets!).
Thanks in advance!
