Recently I got call from a credit collecting company saying I own a credit card company and they were collecting this debt. Actually this is the second company calling me. A couple of months ago another company already did that. They got my name, address and phone#, all correct, but the wrong birth date. And obviously no SIN. I haven't had such credit card and the account # is not on my credit report at all. When I checked my credit report in August, it was all fine by that time. I told the first company you got the wrong guy with different birth date.(I didn't give them my true birth date and the birth date they gave me is wrong.) They admitted it and said wouldn't call me again. But now it seems they got another credit collecting company to collect it. I told the same story again and they said they needed further investigation.
So I'm worried that if they insist that's my debit, can they add it to my credit report, as they have my name, address, phone# but wrong birth date? Do I need to do something now, like reporting a credit fraud to police or credit companies?
