Hey guys, I'm wondering if there are any international finance gurus who are able to help me out of a situation.
I have been contracted by a publisher in Italy to provide a photograph for the cover of an upcoming book. Everything has been arranged and submitted, but now they're holding back on transferring the agreed funds, requesting I submit a "Double Taxation Exemption Form" before they initiate the transfer.
They say that without this form they will be forced to withhold 22.5% of the amount as Italian tax. Obviously, I would prefer to avoid this situation.
I have been Googling for hours now, and have combed through the CRA's site, but can find no such form. Do any of you know of such a form?
I've managed to find the full Tax Treaty between Canada and Italy here: http://www.fin.gc.ca/treaties-conven...Italy_-eng.asp
But there's no mention of or link to a form anywhere.
Please help! I'm not going to get paid until this is sorted (arrrgh).
