A while back I let me over-draft on my ScotiaBank bank account go to the collections agency. (Obviously, very dumb of me to allow that to happen)
Anyways, after about 6 months or so of not paying them, they would call me 4-5 times a day until I finally paid them off.
I used my online banking, spoke to the agent on the phone, sent to the credit agency and I stopped receiving phone calls. (I think the total amount was like $450)
Anyways, 2 years later, I get a call (last night) from a collections agency - in regards to my ScotiaBank Overdraft owing $720!
Just to be clear, I'm 100% I paid the full amount to the collections agency that was calling me before.
I told the agent I paid it over 2 years ago, agent asked me if I had proof, I said my proof is the collections agency stopped calling me for 2 years and I didn't have any paper work from that because well...its been 2 years! thought it was over and done with.
The agent told me I need to get some sort of letter from the credit agency I paid to and fax it over to fix the issue.
Problem is, I don't even remember the name of the collections agency I sent the payment to. I think it was "Global" something.
Anybody deal with this before? How can I find out the collections agency name?
Do I call ScotiaBank? Or do I call my current bank? Any help would be much appreciated!
